The term, maranomi, is taken from the Biblical account of Ruth and Naomi and means bittersweet. It is used as a label for parents who have lost a child or children, just as orphan is a term used to label children who have lost their parents. The book, Maranomi The story of Paxton Cole and Carys Rainn is a true story about exploring faith in God and finding peace and joy in the midst of pain and sorrow after one twin is diagnosed with anencephaly, a fatal birth defect at 16 weeks gestation.

Maranomi is a beautiful journey one couple shares as they seek to honor their God while saying hello and goodbye to one baby while facing a NICU stay with the other. Their testimony of faith is inspiring, and I loved the rare glimpse into a father's heart along the way as we hear the perspective from both mom and dad. One of my favorite part's of this book lies in the early pages when Keri speaks words my own heart echoes, as a fellow mother with babies in heaven.Keri's words:
"As painful as it has been, I can't make myself wish for the old normal. The old normal didn't include my babies, and in the old normal, I hadn't caught a glimpse of Heaven.
There should be a word for this.
If I were to choose to create a word to label this new normal, I'd want it to reflect how the experience is never truly over, but it is ever-changing and developing. I'd want it to reflect how a parent's way of relating to others morphs into something different and the view of the world and its priorities shifts significantly. I'd want it to be clear that, although, a sense of humor may still be present, there is a continual, unspoken somber air that clings to the parent of a child in Heaven. We've glimpsed the other side...And, the other side seems more real than this one."
(pg. 8 Maranomi)
Thank you, Keri, for pouring your heart into this book, for pouring your efforts into serving other grieving hearts through the Carys Rainn Foundation, and for being a true friend...not only to me...but to so many other bereaved families and all who know you. Few hearts are more genuine than Keri's. I hope you will take some time to read her family's inspiring story, and to get to know one of most authentically caring souls I've met on this path.

Maranomi Keri Kitchen Aaron Kitchen 9781496040404 Books Reviews
This book is amazing! I can't imagine the lives it has/will touch, including mine. I fell asleep reading it and finished it as soon as I woke up.
The journey of this precious child, started long before the short time she was here.. Her legacy will be here, long after we're with her on Heaven.
Great story by a great couple. Keri and Aaron do a wonderful job of sharing both the greatest joy and the deepest sorrow a couple could face. Seeing their faith through the story is truling amazing.
